The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to impose a complete ban on private examinations at the graduate level. Students will no longer be able to study from home. The two-year BA and MA degrees have been discontinued in the wake of the Higher Education Commission’s educational reforms.

Universities will not be allowed to conduct private examinations from 2021 and public universities will be allowed to conduct examinations only for regular students and students of affiliated colleges.

However, Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University would be allowed to take the exam at the graduation level. Virtual University and Allama Iqbal University will conduct graduation examinations under the Open and Distance Learning Policy. The Open and Distance Learning Policy for Government Universities under the Higher Education Commission will be released in November.

Universities will also have to offer regular admissions to two-year associate degree programs. Private examinations for associate degrees will be discontinued from next year. With the end of private examinations, a large portion of the revenue of public universities will also be cut off.
